Is it high time for a vacation or what? Summer is finally here again. It’s time to load up that car, folks. Fill up the trunk and toss in the kids, because it’s all about those adventurous beach vacations. Okay, well I’m not sure how adventurous they are, but they’re certainly a blast. We’re talking about the warm sun on your face and soft, soothing sand between your tired toes. Ah, can’t you just already taste those margaritas? Now, the first thing you have to focus on is the big plan. So, what is the big plan? You mean you don’t already have one? Oh, it’s no big deal. All you need to get started with contemporary beach vacations is your PC or Mac. Ah ha, and you thought it was sun block. Hop on your home computer and get a head start on your big summer getaway.

With environmental issues high on every agenda, the term “ecology” trips easily off most tongues. Are we confident of its meaning as we use it?

A translation from the Greek “oikos” tells us that ecology is the study of the house or home. The home of a plant or animal has both living and non-living components.

The Community

A group of plants and animals living together in a place at one time is called a community. We can identify communities on both land and water, to include a forest community, a pond community, a desert community or a coral reef community. At micro-scales, a community on a single tree branch might include mosses and lichens, insects, birds and small mammals. The living things within the community interact with each other, possibly through a food chain or food web relationship, in which insects may eat leaves and birds eat the insects. Trees in a forest provide shelter and breeding sites for some of the animals in the community. In relationships with benefit to both parties, insects pollinate plants and fruit-eating birds and mammals disperse seeds.

The Ecosystem

If you have had an accident on holiday abroad or suffer an illness whilst abroad, which was not your fault you could be entitled to claim compensation although a solicitor would need to review the circumstances in more detail before a definite decision could be made.

For example, if your accident was caused due to a badly maintained section of walkway in the hotel grounds you would be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim against your travel agent. Even if you have made your travel and accommodation arrangements personally without a tour or travel agent, it is still worth seeking specialist legal advice as to the options that may be available to you.

Even if you are traveling by plane, ship or trains abroad and have not reached your destination, there may be legal remedies available and again you should contact us so that you can be put in touch with specialist solicitors.
